It is with sadness and fond remembrances that we announce the passing of Sharon Waterman.  She passed away at her home on August 23, 2023.

Sharon Maxine (named after a favorite babysitter) was born at Mercy Hospital in Williston, ND on February 18, 1952 to Clarence and Julia (Austad) Leiseth.  She made quite an impression weighing in at 10 pounds and a headful of black curly hair.

She lived on a farm south of Arnegard, ND until her family moved into Watford City in 1956.  She attended elementary and high school in Watford City graduating in 1970.

After graduation from high school, Sharon attended NDSU with majors in Criminal Justice and business.  While in college, she worked for Avis Rent a Car and later became the owner of the Avis Car Rental in Jamestown.  She became a broker associate with Dardis and Hometown Realty Companies.  She served as President of the Local Realtors’ Board.  In 1984 she was named Realtor of the Year.  Sharon also sold life insurance for a time.

Sharon’s clients fondly remember her kindness, thoughtfulness and desire to give the best service to everyone with whom she worked.   Sharon sent out birthday cards, anniversary cars, sympathy cards and also delivered home baked goodies to her clients.

She was also very active in the community.  She was Secretary Treasurer of the Jamestown Board of Realtors and was active in the Chamber of Commerce and served on many committees.

Sharon directed the handbell choir at Trinity Lutheran Church, was organist/pianist at Immanuel Lutheran.  She was on the board of directors at Safe Shelter.  She was an adult supervisor on a teen hotline to name a few

She is survived by her sisters Julie Claire Schwartz and husband Bruce, Marcia Hansen, her stepdaughter Angie, husband Jim and their daughter Ava Grothmann.  She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.  Doran and Sarah Schwartz and family, Kelley and Chadd Berger and family, Jay and Randi Hanson, Jason and Wendy Knudson and family, Kristin and Shawn Oban and family, Kimberly Hemphill and son.  She was preceded in death by her husband Terry Waterman, her grandparents, parents, her older sister Sylvia, niece Kayla and significant-other Donald Warren.

May the memory of Sharon’s quiet yet wonderful life continue to inspire us to embrace simplicity, kindness and the beauty that can be found in the moments we often overlook.  May she rest in peace surrounded by the serenity she cherished.
