Mariann "Mary" (Gomke) Van Eaton

Mariann Fern Van Eaton, 61 of Jamestown, ND passed away on April 20th, 2022 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Mariann was born to William and Evelyn (Schmuhl) Gomke in Jamestown where she grew up and attended Jamestown Public Schools.

She moved to Canada in 1978 and married John Veeman. From this union, she had four children, Nathan, Jessica, Angie, and William. They were her greatest joy and loved them more than life itself.

She later was married to Jay Van Eaton and lived in Jamestown.

Mary was smart, witty, funny, feisty, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She never candy-coated anything and always told it like it was. When we were around her, she always made us all smile and laugh. She had a way of brightening everyone’s day. She had the love of music, especially for her favorite Rockstar, Alice Cooper.

While in Canada, she enjoyed working for the Humane Society and did her favorite thing, taking care of animals. She had many dogs and cats in her lifetime. Her last three dogs were her babies, Tinkerz, Bella, and Tina.

She took computer classed and was very talented and creative with computer design.

Mary is survived by her four children, all from Canada: son, Nathan (Marcy) Veeman, daughter, Jessica (Garnet Smee) Veeman, daughter, Angie (Barry) Moule, son, William Veeman, four grandchildren; Jordan and Riley Veeman, Kleveland Smee, Daisy Smee, and Felix (Mary’s 1-year old, great-grandson, her pride and joy), her best friend, Pam, who was always by her side to help her, godparents to her children, Greg and Melinda Wald, and many cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Evelyn Gomke, and her grandparents.

The family would like to thank all of the Dr’s and nurses at Sanford who cared for Mary.
