James William Smith

James William “Jim” Smith, 57, of Buchanan, ND passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 24, 2021 near the Smith Family Farm.

Jim was born March 27, 1964, the youngest child to Ralph Eugene “Gene” and Beverly Ann “Bev” (Rick) Smith and was raised on the family farm. He attended Pingree Schools, and Graduated with the Class of 1982; he then attended Auctioneer School. Jim was joined in marriage October 10, 1987 to Kelly Krebsbach and they were blessed with three children. Jim was a true Farmer and Rancher his whole life, but also worked Dispatch at the local Law Enforcement Center for 18 years. He later began Crop Adjusting for NAU Insurance, which he continued until the time of his passing. Jim loved hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors and traveling. His newest favorite hobby however, was spending time with and/or talking about his 2 Grandsons, who were his pride and joy. Jim always knew how to have a good time and was easily recognizable for his hearty, joyful laughter.

James is survived by his daughter Deven (Nick Davis), 2 ‘step’ grandchildren, Sydney and Jaxon, and his first Grandson, Gibson Davis, his son Elliot (Brittany) Smith and newest Grandson, Liam; 3 siblings - brother, Randy (Bev) Smith, sisters Vicki (Matt) Walsh and Jean (Rich) Jaranson, 10 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, his beloved dog, Zeke, along with many close friends and extended family members.

He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, Gene and Bev Smith, grandparents and youngest daughter, Jessica Smith. He will be laid to rest with his daughter at Sunset Memorial Gardens of Jamestown, per his wishes. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation: 4PM – 7PM, Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 7PM, Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Eddy Funeral Home with pastor Candyce Wick officiating.

Memorial Service: 10AM, Friday, July 30, 2021 at Pingree Lutheran Church, Pingree, ND.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens
