Gary Andersen

Gary Alan Andersen, 68, Lakewood, CO, formerly of Jamestown, ND passed away December 16, 2013, after a 13-year battle with colon cancer.



Gary was born January 26, 1945 in Jamestown, the son of Gilbert and Ruth (Disney) Andersen. Gary entered the US Air Force and served his country as a pilot in Vietnam from 1967-1970 and in England 1970-1972. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross (Valor) and the Air Medal with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf clusters. Gary became an airline pilot flying for National Airlines-Pan American. He retired from United Airlines, having flown a total of 10 different aircrafts. He was a world traveler, avid reader, sailor and photographer.

Gary is survived by his two crown jewels, Julie, his wife of 33 years and his son, Shane. He is also survived by his father, Gilbert, Lisbon, ND; three brothers, Rodney (Phyllis) Andersen, Grand Forks, ND, Randy Andersen, Gainesville, FL and Jeff (Shelly) Andersen, Jamestown; and one sister, Susan (Butch) Forester, Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth, and brother, Greg.
