Betty Jean Thorman Johnson, 87, Jamestown, ND passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at Oak Crossing Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN.
Betty Jean Thorman Johnson was born on July 18, 1929 on the family farm west of Buchanan, ND. She was the last of four children born to Harry and Mary Thorman. She went to a one room country school in Round Top Township through 8th grade and then graduated from Jamestown High School. She worked in secretarial/bookkeeping jobs including Equity Creamery, Benson Optical and North Dakota State Prison. Later on, she worked as a clerk with the North Dakota legislature appropriations committee, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was Administrative Secretary to Senator Mark Andrews in Washington, DC until her retirement in 1996. She enjoyed her retirement years doing volunteer work and spending time with family.
She had one daughter, Jean "Jeanne" Diane Perkins born June 13, 1948, from a previous marriage. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, a brother, Edward of Fairview, MT and her sister, Elsie Lawrence of Jamestown, ND. She is survived by one brother, Joseph Thorman of Moorhead, MN and nieces, Marlene Hamilton, Billings, MT, Diana Bishop Monte, Winnett, MT and nephews, Ron Greenlund, Jamestown, ND, and Joe Thorman, Jr. of Rolla, ND.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 22 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Erik Weber, officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial in the spring at Highland Home Cemetery.
