He began his working career at a very young age.  First employment was at Gaier Brothers Ranch near Cleveland, ND, working as a ranch hand.  That wasn’t the last time he worked the land.  He was a farmhand for Jim Trautman and Steve Dale in the Jamestown area.

In 1954 he moved to Jamestown and was employed at Ford and Buick dealerships (1956), at which time he left the state and went to Leads, SD to work for the Homestake Gold Mine until 1958; returning to Jamestown to work at Core Craft Boat Mfg. Company for 3 years in 1958; Coca-Cola Bottling Company one year; 1962-1964 owned Southside Enco.; owned Exxon Bulk Plant for 14 years; and purchased truck plaza, “Arnie’s” in 1978.

He was involved in the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce (Outstanding Citizen’s Award 1986); Area Foundation Board; Promotion and Tourism; Stutsman County Economic Development; North Dakota Petroleum Marketers; ND Easter Seal Society; Governor Sinner appointed Arnie to serve on Board of directors of ND Fire and Tornado Fund; GNDA and Business Challenge, 1989.  He was also a Fraternal Order of Eagles 1960 member; President of James River Aerie #2337 (1970-71); Dakota State President (1980-81); Central Regional President (1982-83); Dakota State Hall of Fame (1989); Aerie ritual team; Grand Aerie Ritual Advisor and Vice Chairman of the ritual committee.

Arnie and Yvonne (Gasal) Becker were married May 14, 1983 in Jamestown, ND at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

After he sold Arnie’s Truck Plaza, Arnie and Yvonne purchased a ranch (A-Y Bison) to raise buffalo.  One of his many joys of family and friends.  Became a life time member of the National Buffalo Museum.  Served on the museum board and past president of ND Buffalo Association.

He was not one to sit idle long, working for NAPA Auto Parts (2002-2018).  Arnie was a member of El Zagal Shriners, Elks and St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Arnie is survived by his wife Yvonne; daughter Brenda (Dave) Elkins, Cody, WY; son Craig (Deb) Becker, West Fargo, ND; step-sons Jarred (Jennifer) Gasal and Greg Gasal of Jamestown, ND; sister Loretta Piehl, Jamestown, ND; brothers Warney (Arlys), Wishek, ND, Darvin (Marcella), Fargo, ND; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gene, sisters LuElla, Cora and Bernice.
