Ann Pederson Nelson Obituary

Ann L. Nelson, 88, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Sunday morning, June 26, 2022 at Eventide, Jamestown.

Ann Laura Wagner was born October 8, 1933, at Lucan, MN, the daughter of William A. Wagner and Mary M. (Soupir) Wagner.  She moved with her family in April of 1934 to Courtenay, ND and attended rural Durham school in her early elementary years.  They moved in 1943 to the Dazey, ND area where she attended school at Lead, ND.  They returned to the Courtenay area in 1949 where she graduated from Courtenay High School in 1951.  Ann married Kenneth “Bud” Pederson on June 11, 1952 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Wimbledon, ND.

They moved to Jamestown in August of 1952 where Ann was active in the religious education (C.C.D.) as a teacher for 5 years, principal for 5 years and a board member for 7 years from 1964-1976.  In 1977, she organized the Rosary Program at Central Dakota Village and Hi-Acres Manor.  Ann organized the Christian Leadership classes for approximately 100 adults of the parish and others.  She was active as a member of the Cursillo movement, having served on a team numerous times and on the first kitchen team as well.  Ann established two women’s bowling teams for the Knights of Columbus.  She was chairwomen of the first pictorial church directory in 1975 of St. James parish and was a member of the Tabernacle Society.  She served as Eucharistic Minister of the St. James parish and to the shut-ins from 1986-1993.  Ann worked at the White Plaza Drug Garden Shop, Don’s House of Flowers, and Jamestown Nursery & Garden Center, also at the Farmers Union as an assistant cook, Leever’s in food demo, and at Schwan’s Sales Enterprises as a telecommunications specialist.  Kenneth died in January of 1993.

Ann married Clifford Nelson on August 2, 1997.  She loved flowers, nature, gardening, crafts, camping and fishing.  A favorite hobby was fishing, having taken her daughters and grandsons on fishing outings.  Ann and her family participated in the Friendly Town Project, having enjoyed sharing their home and love for a child from Chicago for several summers.  She was an avid Twins fan and enjoyed traveling.  Ann loved all people, especially those to whom she brought the Rosary Program and the shut-ins, which was an everlasting joy.

Ann is survived by her two daughters and one son-in-law, Kim Kreil, Jamestown and Terry (Mike) Carbone, Moorhead, MN; two grandsons, Jamie (Melanie) Pederson and Rylan (Raylena "Rae") Carbone; three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Molly and Wyatt; two great great-granddaughters; brother, Leonard Wagner; two step-children, Deb (Ted) Kapp and Tom Nelson, all of Jamestown; six step-grandchildren; and a step-great-granddaughter.
