Wyatt James Ellingson, 54, of Edgeley, North Dakota, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Wyatt was born on January 5, 1972, in Jamestown to Raymond and Dorothy (Paulson) Ellingson. He was the youngest of five brothers and was lovingly named after his mother, who jokingly exclaimed, “Why it couldn’t have been a girl?”—a family story that brought smiles and laughter for years. Throughout his life, he answered to many names—Wyatt, WJ, WE, WEWE, and Big Tex—but no matter what you called him, you knew you were talking about someone with a big heart, a warm smile, and a contagious laugh.

He was raised on the family farm in Willowbank Township, six miles east of Edgeley, where he developed a lifelong love of farming, family, and the land. Wyatt graduated from Edgeley High School in 1990 and attended Bismarck State College.

On August 31, 1996, Wyatt married the love of his life, Carrie Radermacher. Together they built a life on their farm in Willowbank Township, where they raised their two sons, Westen and Ethan.

When the boys were young, Wyatt farmed while also driving truck, often hauling cattle across the country. Some of his favorite travel companions were his sons, who joined him on many of those trips, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Once the boys reached school age, Wyatt chose a career that allowed him to spend more time at home with his family. He joined Green Iron Equipment as a salesman and remained a proud and dedicated member of the Green Iron family and later Valley Plains Equipment for the rest of his career.

Wyatt’s greatest joy was his family. He was a committed husband, a devoted father, and a proud grandfather. He treasured time spent with those he loved, whether sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or offering one of his trademark hugs. Wyatt had an infectious laugh, a warm smile, and a gift for making everyone around him feel welcome.

He loved his black cows and found great satisfaction in caring for them. He enjoyed wrestling, loved traveling to new places, and one of his favorite pastimes was dancing with Carrie. Whether he was at home on the farm, spending time with family and friends, or sharing a laugh, Wyatt lived life with kindness, generosity, and unwavering loyalty. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, genuine friendship, and unconditional love that will continue to live on in all who knew him.

Wyatt was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Dorothy “Dotty” Ellingson; his brother, Curt Ellingson; and his mother-in-law, Audrey Radermacher.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Carrie; his sons, Westen and Ethan (Koryna); his cherished granddaughter, Vivian; his brothers, Todd (Stacey), Jon (Missy), and Mark; his sister-in-law, Brenda (Curt); his father-in-law, Michael Radermacher; his sisters-in-law, Sabrina (Jason) Hildenbrand and Kim Radermacher (Gus); 14 nieces and nephews; many beloved cousins; and countless dear friends.
