Willie Kamletz

Willie L. Kamletz, 93, of Jamestown, ND, passed away October 23, 2015 at Eventide under hospice care.

Willie was born February 24, 1922, at Merricourt, ND, one of twelve children to Lou and Gladys (Gilpin) Kamletz. He was raised on farms in the area near Whitestone Battlefield, Berlin, Grand Rapids, and Dickey ND. Willie enlisted in the US Navy during WWII, serving duty in Panama and the Pacific theater on the USS Dayton as a cook. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and married Helen Irene Baumann in October 1948 at Washburn, ND. They farmed in the Dickey, ND area until 1963, and then moved to Oakes, ND. Willie worked various jobs including highway construction before moving to Fargo, ND to work for the park district as head custodian at Lindenwood Park. Helen passed away in 1975 and Willie married Geneva Wolski in November 1979 in Fargo. Willie retired from the park district in 1986 and moved to Cleveland, ND, then to Jamestown. Geneva passed away in September 2010. He worked various custodial jobs, including churches and an eye care center, and mowed lawns in Cleveland and Jamestown. He also volunteered ringing bells for the Salvation Army for three decades and distributing candy for various businesses during Halloween. Willie was also a member of the Montpelier Club where they would get together to play cards, bingo, and have refreshments. He also loved to feed his birds and squirrels outside his apt. window.

Willie is survived by his son, Darwin, Jamestown; daughter, Jan, Jamestown; daughters, Mary Etta Moore, Baxter, MN, Cindy (Harry) Groves, Casper, WY; son, Charles “Chuck” (Linda) Wolski, Bismarck, ND; brothers, Richard (Jane) Kamletz, Jamestown, Roger (Helene) Kamletz and Eldon (Rusty) Kamletz, both of Edgeley, ND; sister, Luella Morris, Renton, WA; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, two sisters and five brothers.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Arlyn Coalter officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Jamestown.

Interment : 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
