Wilfred "Willie" Ziegler

Wilfred (Willie) Ziegler, age 90, passed away peacefully at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown ND, on June 30th 2025 with family by his side. He was born June 19th, 1935 in Diesem ND to Ernest and Frieda (Wiese) Ziegler. He attended grade school in Nora and Ray townships, graduated from Edgeley High school (1953), attended college in Ellendale ND and earned a teaching degree in Basic Education. He taught rural school in Nora and Ray townships for four years.

Willie married Katherine (Kathey) Dobler Oct 27, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ellendale ND. He worked for USDA as a soil conservation aide in Ellendale and Fargo before moving to Edgeley ND to raise their four children. He enjoyed his 38 year career with James Valley Electric Cooperative and worked in various capacities with the cooperative and retired as manager of operations in September 1997.

Willie was a baptized and confirmed member of Zion Lutheran church in Edgeley ND and was active in the congregation throughout the years. He was an EMT and charter member of the Edgeley Ambulance squad, served on Edgeley City council, JC’s, Lions club, and numerous other community committee functions. Willie enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and maintaining a WEED FREE yard in Edgeley.

After Retiring in 1997 Willie worked part time at the Edgeley Meat plant as a maintenance person and truck driver delivering meat to area communities. He also enjoyed helping out on his son-in-law’s farms.

In 2010 Willie and Kathey moved into Linden court apartments in Jamestown ND. He joined the Manor St Joseph Family in Edgeley in November 2021 and resided there until a week before his passing.

Willie is survived by his wife, Kathey and children Linda (Douglas) Cramblit, Mankato MN, Timothy Ziegler, Edgeley ND, Sandra (David) Radermacher, Monango ND, Brenda (Allen) Bollinger, Edgeley ND. His Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren, Andrew (Angela) Cramblit, Madison Lake MN (Leland and Lila), Kali (Tanner) Kiecker, Edgeley ND (Jozie, Emmy, Megan & Brooke), Alex Radermacher, Fargo ND, Claire (Jacob) Leland, Billings MT (Brynn, Elyse, Haddie & Hendrik), JoAna (Andrew) Werner, Chanhassen MN (Luca & Indy), Jonathan Radermacher, Edgeley ND, Eric (Brittany) Bollinger, Williston ND (Evelyn & Chase), Emily (Steven) Klym, Belfield ND (Carter, Hannah & Conner). His Brother Gilbert Ziegler, Fargo ND, sister, Loretta Swiontek, Fargo ND and many nieces and nephews.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law Ted Swiontek and one sister-in-Law, Carole Ziegler. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Manor St Joseph, Edgeley or Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice.

Friday July 11th, the family will be accepting visitors from 6-7 PM with a Prayer Service to follow at 7 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Edgeley ND. Saturday, July 12th at 11 AM there will be a memorial service at Zion Lutheran Church in Edgeley ND. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley ND.
