Warren Ernie

Warren Harley Ernie, 96, Wimbledon, North Dakota, died peacefully Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Ave Maria Village, under hospice care.
Warren Harley Ernie was born December 21, 1920 in Woodworth, North Dakota, the son of Alfred Ernie and Myrtle (Lufkin) Ernie. The family moved shortly thereafter to the Ernie Homestead near Wimbledon, North Dakota. He graduated from Wimbledon High School in 1938. On February 23, 1945 Warren married Ruby Anna Alvina Joos at the Methodist Parsonage in Wimbledon. Warren and Ruby began farming the Ernie Homestead in 1944. After retirement they continued to spend their summers on the farm and winters in Mesa, Arizona.
Warren was a very active member of the United Methodist Church and served extensively as an officer on both the local and district level. Warren was also involved in many other community activities, including Wimbledon Public School and in Good Sams RV Club for 25 years.
Warren enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and traveling extensively. He was an avid fisherman. After retirement, he spent every summer day he could on the water fishing with friends. He loved talking with people, making new friends, and spending time with his family.
Warren is survived by one son, Doug (Kathy) Ernie, Hudson, WI; two granddaughters, Jenny (Ryan) Ernie-Steighner, Hudson, WI and Debbie (Matt) Campbell, Eau Claire, WI; brother Woody Ernie, Olympia, WA; and nephews, Jim Ernie, Portland, OR, Larry Ernie, Farmington, NM, Mike Bloedel, Milwaukee, WI, and John Wilson, Billings, MT.
Warren was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruby, his parents, and two sisters, Vivian Bloedel and Doris Wilson.

Funeral service will be 2:30 PM, Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Wimbledon, ND. Visitation will be one hour before the service at church. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Wimbledon, ND.
