W. Gordon "Gordie" Christianson

Gordon Christianson, 80, Jamestown, ND passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND due to complications of Alzheimers.

Gordon Christianson was born January 3, 1939, at Arnegard, ND the son of Walter and Mildred (Stevens) Christianson. He attended school at Watford City, ND and graduated from Watford City High School in 1957. He attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks for two years. Gordie was united in marriage to JoAnne (Berg) on March 25, 1961 at Watford City, ND.

Gordie was employed in the oilfields in western North Dakota as a roughneck on a drilling rig. They moved to Bismarck, ND where he was a field appraiser for the North Dakota Highway Department, then with the State Tax Department, and was the Jamestown City Assessor from 1966 to 1970. He sold real estate for R.E. Meidinger Co. until he opened Buffalo Realty in 1972. Gordie had been a real estate appraiser for over fifty years.

Gordie had been involved in many sports including fast and slow pitch softball and bowling. He officiated high school, college and indoor football for 35 years and was inducted into the North Dakota Officials Hall of Fame. He was also presented a Service to Mankind Award from the Jamestown Sertoma Club. Gordie had been a member of the Jamestown Fire Department since 1966, achieving the ranks of Assistant Fire Chief, Battalion Chief, and a member of Jamestown City Council. He enjoyed reading as a pastime, and was involved in his church, Immanuel Lutheran.

Gordie is survived by his wife, JoAnne and three children; Cheryl (Bill Storbakken) Bergian, Fargo, ND, Glenn (Cindy) Christianson, Jamestown, ND, Jill Bell, Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Alex Quarstad, Grant Christianson, Jocelyn Quarstad and Bryce Bell; three great grandchildren Novuhm, Ruby and Jiya; sisters, Joan (Robert) Vernon, Mesa, AZ and Stella (Marvin) Nelson, Bismarck, ND. Gordie was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and sister, Marlene Grantier, Winnett, MT.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Eddy Funeral home with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, February 18, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Lucinda Lien officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
