Viola M. Nichols, 92, of Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, May 1, 2005 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown.
Viola M. Gossett was born May 13, 1912 in Winfield township, south of Spiritwood, ND to Hiram and Mary (Johnson) Gossett. She attended grade schools there thru the 8th grade and moved with the family to a farm north of Eldridge, ND, along the Pipestem Creek. Viola graduated from Jamestown High School in 1934. In 1936, she moved to Billings, MT where she worked for the late Elsie Kenna in training as a chiropodist and also at the Billings Club. In 1943, Viola returned to Jamestown to work at S&L and Trinity Hospital. She married H.E. ""Bud"" Nichols on September 21, 1946 in Jamestown. They lived in Kensal, ND until 1965, when they moved to Jamestown. Bud died in 1996.
Viola is survived by two sisters, Ruby Tuman and Mary Fredricks, and one brother, Gene (DeLoris) Gossett, all of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three brothers, John, Ray, and Roy.
Funeral Service: 2:00PM, Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dick Boyd officiating.
Visitation: Wednesday, May 4, 2005 from 1:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to the United Methodist Church, Jamestown.
