Tony Trangsrud

Tony L. Trangsrud, 57, of Thompson, ND, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, May 19, 2026 at Sanford on Broadway, Fargo, ND.

Anthony L. Trangsrud was born November 14, 1968, in Jamestown, ND, the son of Richard and Judy (Cox) Trangsrud. He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1986. Tony was united in marriage to Paula Szarkowski on June 29, 1991 in Jamestown. In 1993, he entered the US Army and was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. Tony later served in Korea and then Somalia before being honorably discharged in 1997. He used the GI Bill and attended UND, graduating with a degree in criminology. Tony worked at Tri-County Correctional facility in Crookston, MN for about 5 years, and then various other jobs until recently becoming store manager of CVS Pharmacy in Grand Forks, ND.

Tony loved the Pittsburgh Steelers when they were winning or losing. He enjoyed riding his Can-Am motorcycle, going fishing, painting, and assembling model cars & airplanes.

Tony is survived by his wife, Paula Trangsrud; daughter, Jordyn; son, Dylan (Mariah) and granddaughter, Blakely; his parents, Richard & Judy Trangsrud; sister, Amy (Dave) Mutschler; brother, Chad Trangsrud; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernon & Olga Trangsrud, Clara Readel, and Earl Cox.

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Inurnment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown with military funeral honors.
