Pamela Susan "Sue" Kollman, age 75, Jamestown, ND, passed away quietly, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Sue was born January 18, 1951, to Arthur and Gertrude (White) McKenzie, and grew up in rural Pingree, ND, the youngest of seven siblings. She graduated from Pingree High School, in 1969, and was Owner/Operator of the Pingree Community Cafe, where she raised her beloved children, Jason, and Amy for many years.
Sue married her best friend, Ken Kollman, in January 1982, and they recently celebrated 44 years together. They shared a love of nature, animals, gardening, hunting, camping, fishing, playing cards, listening to music, and spending time with family. Susan was always a hard worker! She was organized and creative, and enjoyed being busy, often with several jobs, activities, and other hobbies, such as crochet, gardening and going for long walks. Sue was a helper by nature, and she was always willing to provide support to others, with cleaning, organizing, cooking, shopping, or just visiting.
When her role switched to "Grandma Sue", she thoroughly enjoyed playing with Austin, doing the chores together and pulling him around in his wheelbarrow. She loved her grandchildren, especially getting to teach them about simple things, such as animals, baking, crafts, church, reading, and a variety of 4-H and sports events. In addition, she was a co-conspirator, in the training of some young, cut-throat, Pinochle players, and she planned some epic Easter egg hunts!
Sue was independent and pursued many activities on her own. She was grateful for several remaining, lifelong friendships today. She and her sister, Frannie, were best friends from start to finish! They loved to go to rummage sales and coffee. Sue was a little on the serious side, but when Frannie came to visit every summer, she would laugh all week! A special mention to longtime family friends, Dale & Wendy Thompson, who made many special memories and funny stories with all of us over the years; special friend, Nora Moran & the Pingree-Buchanan Homemakers Club, were all close to Sue, in her heart; as well as many other nieces and nephews, friends, past co-workers, neighbors, or old Bingo buddies. She was preceded in death by her parents, Art & Gertrude McKenzie, sister Faye (Tony) Cumber, brother Tom McKenzie, and daughter-in-law Robin Dunwoody. Susan is survived by her loving husband, Ken; her children, Jason (Mindy) Dunwoody, and Amy Dunwoody. Grandchildren Trevor Dunwoody, Austin Gensburger (Amber Moller), Gage Dunwoody (Marlee) and Adrienne Dunwoody (Justin Albrecht). Great-grandchildren, Isyss, Zoey, Terry, Colton, Gibbons, and Judson. Brothers Don, Joe, & Phil McKenzie; her sister, Francis Hayes; and many other treasured relatives and friends.
Although her physical presence will be greatly missed, her gentle, loving spirit will continue to guide and care for us, always!
Forever in our hearts, Suzie Q!
Lastly, Sue’s family is very grateful for the professional, gracious, and supportive care we were all provided by the nurses, and staff, of the JRMC Hospice program. In lieu of cards or flowers, we ask for the community's continuing support of this wonderful program. Donations can be made to: JRMC Hospice, 2422 20th St. SW, Jamestown, ND 58401.
