Sally Simonsen

God called Sally Simonsen home on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Eventide, Jamestown, ND.

Sally was 96 years old and was living at Eventide Nursing Home, Jamestown, ND. Sally was born on March 15, 1929 in Kongsberg, ND an area near Minot, ND to Herman and Agnes (Mattson) Helmstetler. She attended school at Corwin District, Corrine and then Courtenay, ND. She later moved to live with her sister in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Riverside High School. Sally worked for S.S. Kresge Co., Milwaukee and later moved back to North Dakota.

Sally married Wendell Simonsen on May 3, 1947. They lived in Kensal, ND until moving to Jamestown, ND in 2011. In 2017, they celebrated being married 70 years. Wendell passed a week later at the age of 94.

Sally is survived by sons, Kent (Denise), Jamestown, ND and Kim (Shaw), Williston, ND; four grandsons, two granddaughters and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wendell, daughter Wendy Sargent, three sisters and four brothers.

A graveside service will be held this coming summer. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations are preferred to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Jamestown, ND or Kensal Cemetery, Kensal, ND.
