Roy Baker

Roy Baker, 78, rural Jamestown, North Dakota, died November 18, 2008 at his home.

Roy was born March 6, 1930 in Stutsman County, the son of George Henry and Irma (Albrecht) Baker. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948. On January 10, 1952, Roy enlisted in the US Army and served in the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged on October 9, 1953. Roy was married to Jean Creasy from 1962 - 1978. He was an over-the-road truck driver for many years, hauling mostly livestock. The last 12 years before his retirement, he drove for UPS.

Roy is survived by five children, Daniel J. (Brenda) Baker, Belgrade, MT, Douglas J. (Cheryl) Baker, Eugene, OR, Debra J. (Dan) Gustafson, Belgrade, MT, Denise J. Baker, Missoula, MT and David J. Baker, Loveland, CO; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Eldon (Lois) Baker and Darrell (Jean) Baker, both of Jamestown; four sisters, Marcella (Everett) Murch, Carol Hillstrom and Laurie (Jim) Hamm, all of Jamestown, and Ethel Jackson, Ely, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Erdeen Quamme; and one brother-in-law, Carl Hillstrom.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Eric Libby officiating.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
