Rose Rud, 93, Jamestown, North Dakota passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Ave Maria Village Nursing Home, Jamestown, ND.
Rose Fenner was born December 15, 1921, to August and Rosina (Grosz) Fenner in Drake, ND. She attended school in Drake. Rose later helped on the family farm cooking for their large family.
On September 29, 1941, Rose married Louie Thomas. They lived in Manfred, ND then later moved to Jamestown in 1964, where she worked at the Jamestown Café and North Dakota State Hospital. On July 28, 1973, Rose married Arlie Rud. In the mid 80's, they moved to Pingree. Rose loved to garden and bake. She enjoyed making kuchen so she decided to bake for the Jamestown Farmers Market and various flea markets in Minot and Fargo. Rose was later know as "the kuchen lady".
Rose is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Fred) Hillen; daughter-in-law, Alice Thomas; sisters, Hilda Heidt, Minot, ND, Bertha Degenstein, Harvey, ND, brothers, Loren and John Fenner, Minot, ND; 6 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arlie, son, Duane, 3 sons in infancy, Mike, Louie and John, grandson, Lonnie Hillen, infant grandson Shane Hillen, sisters, Ella Frey, Martha Hoffer, Ester Hoffer, Freida Helmut, brothers, Herman, Art and Walter Fenner.
Funeral service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 5 at Pingree Lutheran Church, Pingree, ND with Deacon Candyce Wick, officiating.
Visitation: 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, December 4 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Pingree Cemetery.
