   Robert Ham, 85, Edgeley,
   
   ND, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Ave
   
   Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.
   
   
   Robert Oakley Ham was born June 21, 1924 in Edgeley, ND,
   
   the son of Archibald and Mary (Thurston) Ham.
   
   He was raised on the family farm in Golden
   
   Glen Township
   
   near Edgeley and attended the Golden Glen Township
   
   School and then Edgeley High School,
   
   graduating in 1942.  After graduating, he
   
   farmed with his father for 4 years.  In
   
   1946, he began working for the LaMoure County Highway Department.  In July of 1971, he married Vyonne Jolin at
   
   the First Presbyterian Church in Edgeley,
   
   ND. Vyonne died in November of
   
   1980.  Robert retired from the Highway
   
   Department in 1987.
   
   
   Robert was an avid gardener, tending his own garden and
   
   also the gardens at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Edgeley, ND.  He also maintained the First Presbyterian
   
   Church in Edgeley for 20 years and was a driver for the Manor St. Joseph for
   
   many years.  Robert loved to travel and,
   
   after retiring, spent his winters in California.
   
   
   Robert was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church and
   
   a charter member of the Edgeley Knights of Columbus.
   
   
   Survivors include 4 brothers: Thurston (Carol) Ham,
   
   Edgeley, ND; James (Della) Ham, Edgeley, ND; Philip (Cathy) Ham, Ontario, CA;
   
   Leland (Marlene) Ham, Steele, ND; a sister, Betty Lee, Long Beach, CA; 2
   
   sisters-in-law: Marlene Ham, Edgeley, ND; Marge Gleason, Edgeley, ND; nieces
   
   and nephews and a special friend, Joe Mathern, Edgeley, ND.
   
   
   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother,
   
   Jerry and a brother-in-law, David Lee.
