Robert G. Archambault, 97, formerly of Waterbury, CT passed away March 27, 2020 in Port Charlotte, FL.

Robert was born October 8, 1922 in Waterbury, CT, to Joseph and Mary (Scanlon) Archambault. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in Waterbury and went on to become a toolmaker at Scoville Manufacturing. When WW II broke out, he joined the US Army Air Corp. and became a pilot. He was a photographer doing reconnaissance flights and was eventually promoted to Lieutenant.

He met his wife of 60 plus years while in North Dakota. Robert and Alice Katherine Dunphy of Buchanan were married on June 24, 1944 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Phoenix, AZ. After the service, Robert received a Fullbright Scholarship to study in France. He got a family to sponsor him there and he went to study with his wife by his side. Upon returning to the US, Robert entered Columbia University and got his Master’s in Education and taught in Chicago and New York, NY until his retirement. He and Alice traveled the world, visiting Africa, France, Russia, China, Germany, and Mexico to name a few. Robert always continued his studies and bought DVDs on astronomy, Judaism, the Earth, and various religious teaching and other subjects.

Robert is survived by his cousins, most devoted Lexie, friends, nieces, nephews, family and friends throughout the US.

He was preceded in death by his father; mother; wife, Alice in 2008; and sister, Mary.

Graveside Service – 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2020 at St. Margaret Cemetery, Buchanan, ND.
