Rita L (Topel) Williams

Rita L. Williams, 78, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 11, 2023 at Eventide, Jamestown.

Rita was born on June 4, 1945, in Delano, MN, the daughter of Leo and Elizabeth (Niesen) Topel.  She graduated from Delno High School and was an LPN for some time, working in Bottineau and Minot before attaining a teaching certificate from Jamestown College. Rita married James Williams in December 1971 and then stayed at home to raise her two children and helped on the family farm.  Her home also became a daycare for other children.  Rita enjoyed being outside and could be found fishing, gardening, and loving animals.  She also crocheted and embroidered many dishcloths.  Rita and Jim divorced in 1988.

Rita is survived by her daughter, Kim; son, Gerad (Heather); brother, Ralph Topel; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Carol Dagit and Marjorie Van Beusekom; and brother, Jacob “Bud” Topel.

Visitation – 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Mass of Christian Burial – 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Watertown, MN.

Burial – Calvary Cemetery, Delano, MN.
