Raeann Paulson

March 5, 1933 — August 31, 2023

RaeAnn Mueller Paulson, a life-long resident of Jamestown, died on August 31, 2023 at Eventide Nursing Home.  She celebrated her 90th birthday last spring, a milestone she was surprised to reach.

RaeAnn was born to Raymond and Hattie (Lohn) Mueller in their Jamestown home on March 5, 1933, joining siblings Gordon, Jack, Irma and Kathryn.  She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1951 and married her high school sweetheart, Mark Paulson, June 1, 1952.  They welcomed their first-born, LuAnn, the day before RaeAnn turned 20.  Janis and Marc followed to complete their family of five.

During her adult years, RaeAnn worked for the Jamestown Sun, United Printing, Jamestown Public Schools, Traiser Electric, Buffalo Candy, Stutsman County Social Services and Gardenette Housing.  She was a member of United Presbyterian Church where she was baptized, confirmed, a Ruling Elder serving on the Session, money counter, and on the pastor nominating committee.  She was honored to be awarded the Honorary Life Membership pin by the United Presbyterian Women.  When her children were in school, she served as President of the Washington School PTA and also enjoyed her time as an Election Judge.  Mom enjoyed being a 20+ year member of the Sweet 16 Homemakers.

She loved traveling with her husband to many Elks conventions, as well as trips to visit her grandchildren.  Her grandkids provided her with lots of joy, as well as a few extra gray hairs. She was blessed to have time with all of them and excited when great-grandchildren arrived.  They would say, “Grandma is the best!”

RaeAnn is survived by her daughter, Janis (Brent) Wallender, Beulah, ND; her son, Marc (Jackie) Paulson, Eleva, WI; and her son-in-law, Dan Oberg, Waubun, MN.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Kelcey (Grant Gullicks) Wallender, Chugiak, AK, Kylie (John) Wallman, Fargo, ND,  Karlee Wallender, Portland, OR; Zach (Betsy Saumur) Paulson, Atlanta, GA, Ben (Cait) Paulson, Egan, MN, Bobbi Jo (Jeff) Brantner and Amanda (Joe) Brummond both of Eau Claire, WI; her great-grandchildren, Austin, Addie, Lizzie, Thomas, Marcus, Arnie, George, Beckham and Bodhi.  She is also survived by grand and great granddogs Stanley and Oliver, Louie, Tally, Chi Chi, Desmond, and Buck; many special nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews along with her very special friends too numerous to mention.

Preceding RaeAnn in death were her husband, Mark; daughter, LuAnn, her parents; her four siblings and their spouses; brother, Billy, who died in childhood; her mother and father-in-law, a niece, nephew and a great niece.  She was the final family member of her generation and will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the loving staff at Eventide Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided our mom, as well as the JRMC Hospice team for their time with her.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

If you wish to remember RaeAnn’s life with a memorial, we know she would be honored to have you consider United Presbyterian Church, 302 2nd Ave SE, Jamestown, ND or JRMC Hospice, 2422 20th St. SW, Jamestown, ND or a charity of your choosing.
