Otto Kanewischer, 92, of Jamestown, North Dakota died April 24, 2010 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.
Otto was born on February 10, 1918 in Lehr, North Dakota, the son of William and Emma (Dallman). He was raised and received his education there. On June 25, 1943 he married Mabel Gutschmidt in Lehr. The two made their home in Jamestown, where they rasised their four children. Otto entered the military in 1941 and served his country during World War II until 1945. While living in Jamestown, Otto worked many years for Montgomery Ward as an electronic technician. During his retirement, Otto enjoyed volunteering at the Anne Carlsen Center, the Jamestown Hospital and Ave Maria Village.
Along with volunteering, Otto was also active in his church , enjoyed being a part of his bowling league and horseshoe league and spending time at the family farm in Lehr.
Otto is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mabel, Jamestown; one daughter, Cindy Colon, St. Paul, MN; three sons, David (Gwen), White Bear Lake, MN, Dennis (Lori), Fallbrook, CA, and Steven (Monica), Franklin, TN; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and four sisters, Martha, Hilma, Hilda and Elsie.
Otto was preceded in death by his parents.
