Oren Slaughter, 80, Medina, North Dakota, died Sunday, December 19, 2004 at the Baptist Home in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Oren was born September 8, 1924 in Tappen, the son of Ernest Clyde and Ida (Haadem) Slaughter. He grew up in the Tappen area and attended rural school near Tappen. He married Josephine Hagen on September 8, 1948 in Fargo, North Dakota. He worked in the shipyards in Seattle, Washington and he was also a truck driver. Oren and Josephine dairy farmed south of Tappen for many years. They retired in 1979 and moved to Medina, ND. Josephine died August 31, 1996.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Oren is survived by five children; Wanda (Melvin) Wolfe, Leona (Allen) Moser, Clyde Slaughter, Dennis (Jackie) Slaughter and Tammy (Bradley) Moser, all of Medina, ND, eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four brothers; Curtis (Laverne) and Clarence, both of Tappen, Harold (Marie), West Fargo, Delane (Janice), Bismarck and three sisters, Alta (Bob) Baldwin, New Tripoli, PA, Areda (Raymond) Owens, Syracuse, NY and Ivy Knight, New Tripoli, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister, June and a brother-in-law, Pete Knight.
Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Tappen, ND with Rev. William Russow officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Service: 7:30 PM, Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Fisher Cemetery, Tappen, North Dakota.
