Mildred Reisnour

September 29, 1929 — May 9, 2025

Long time local businesswoman, Mildred Reisnour, passed away on May 9, 2025. Mildred May Wutzke was born in her grandparent’s sod house located northwest of Woodworth, ND, to Edward and Elsie (Cellmer) Wutzke on September 29, 1929.

She attended school in rural Woodworth recalling her father reminding her, on days when winter storms threatened, if it’s storming when you come home let go of the reins and the horse will bring you home.

After completing high school, she attended the New York Hairdressing Academy in Fargo. When she graduated in 1947, she went to work at Claryce Beauty Shop in Jamestown.

She and Ralph met in Jamestown and were married at St. James Basilica in 1950. In 1951 they started their own business of Reisnour Barber and Beauty Salon at 212 ½ South 1st Avenue in Jamestown where the business remained until 1988 when the beauty shop relocated to Meidinger Square from which she retired in 1991.

Mildred enjoyed gardening raising flowers and vegetables alike. Twice they were awarded the Prairie Rose Garden Club Yard of the Week. She took great pride in sewing quilts and shirts for Ralph and their sons. Many of these creations from the 70’s and 80’s are still in use today. Her passion for cooking and baking were passed on to her sons, much to the delight of her daughters-in-law.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, sisters Mardelle Caulfield and Marlene Pieske, brothers-in-law Don Pieske, Bill Caulfield and Ray Grismer. She is survived by her sister Phyllis Linssen, Mesa, AZ; brother Darrell (Bonnie), Billings, MT; four sons: James (Anne), Jamestown; Dennis (Juli), Fifty Lakes, MN; Timothy (Mary), Austin, MN; and Patrick (Nancy), Pequot Lakes, MN. Survivors also include eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at Cavalry Cemetery, Jamestown with arrangements by Eddy Funeral Home.
