Michael Elroy Kapfer, 60, Riceville, Tennessee died on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the VA hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Michael Kapfer was born in Jamestown, ND on May 28, 1949, the son of Elroy and Lois (Loose) Kapfer. He grew up in Jamestown. In his teen years he moved to Goodridge, ND. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He graduated high school in 1967. After high school, he enlisted in the Army from November 1967 through November 1973. During his time in the Army, he was promoted to Sergeant and served in Vietnam for 16 months. In April 1968, he married Linda Morris and they had two sons, Kelly and Steven. They later divorced. He was employed at the Minneapolis Bee Line as a mechanic. He married Vicki Suhonen in July 1981. They too later divorced.
For the past 15 years, he was living in an assisted living home with his caregivers, Cathy and Bob Widdis. During his time with them, he loved to go deep sea fishing in Florida and camping. He also enjoyed walking with them in woods.
Michael is survived by his two sons, Kelly Kapfer, Bismarck, ND and Steven Kapfer, Bismarck, ND, two grandsons Brendon Kapfer, Bismarck, ND and Brody Kapfer, Moorhead, MN, and one brother John Kapfer, Fargo, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Phyllis Kapfer.
