Mary L. Stoddart, 90, Jamestown, ND died Monday, November 18, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND, with her daughter by her side.
Mary L. Perry was born May 23, 1923 in Eldridge, ND, the daughter of William H. and Florence H. (Pryztarski) Perry. She grew up on a farm south of Jamestown and attended Jamestown rural schools. She cooked and cleaned for area farmers before marrying Vincent Stoddart on May 24, 1941 in Jamestown. Mary worked for a peach cannery in California while Vince was stationed there. Upon their return to North Dakota, Mary worked for Peterson's Grocery, in the Obstetrics department at Jamestown Hospital and at W.L. Woolworths.
Mary enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, sewing, cooking and baking and especially babysitting her grandchildren. She was a member and weigher of Weight Watchers.
Mary is survived by her husband of 72 years, Vincent; two children, Judy (Roy) Seckerson and David Stoddart, all of Jamestown; four grandchildren, LeAnn (Tyler) Davies, Eric (Monica) Seckerson, Brandon (Cassandra) Stoddart and Michael (Tehia) Stoddart; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Terry) Perry, Great Falls, MT; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and two sisters.
