Marvin A. Thoms, 83, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, January 16, 2006 in his home.

Marvin was born January 22, 1922 in Clementsville, North Dakota, the son of Frederick and Anna (von Stamm) Bradley. Upon the death of his mother, when he was 3 weeks old, Marvin went to live with Fred and Elsie (Rick) Thoms and was raised by them. He attended school in Clementsville and later worked for the CCC.

Marvin entered the US Army on April 1, 1941 in Jamestown and served during WWII in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. Marvin was part of the landing force on Utah Beach during the Normandy invasion, and also served in General Patton's army during The Battle of the Bulge. He returned to the United States from England via the Queen Elizabeth and was discharged on October 20, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. Marvin married Rhea Boettcher on December 29, 1947 in Moorhead, Minnesota. They returned to Jamestown where they made their home. Marvin traveled and worked at various jobs throughout the United States and he was known as a ""jack of all trades.""

He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Marvin is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Ella Thoms, Spiritwood, ND, a sister, Merna Olson, Lewistown, MT, a brother, Ward ""Warren"" (Irene) Bradley, Puyallup, WA, nieces Judy (Michael) Reindel, Menoken, ND; Marilyn Mahlke, Lewistown, MT; Elsie (Bill) Huss, Great Falls, MT; Jackie McClure, Wickenburg, AZ; Edith Boettcher, Seattle, WA; Anna Marie Boettcher, North Queensland, Australia and Ethel Mae Nelson, Silverdale, WA and nephews, Fred (Carol) Martin; Bert (Marty) Gray; Del (Joan) Martin, all of Jamestown; Duane (Brenda) Thoms, Courtenay, ND and Greg Boettcher, Pierre, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rhea; three brothers, Victor Bradley, Walter Bradley and Ralph Thoms and one sister, Leona Thoms Gray.

Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Monday, January 23, 2006 at Atonement Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Berntson officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Sunday, January 22, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota
