Marvin “Bubbles” Lorig passed away peacefully the morning of January 23rd, 2019 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.
Marvin Leroy Lorig was born July 19, 1934 in Jamestown, ND. He attended school in Jamestown and graduated in May of 1952. Marvin served in the US Marine Corp from November 1953 to November 1956 as a Corporal. He was stationed in South Korea following the Korean War. He was released from active duty in November 1956 and transferred to the Marine Corp Reserve until November 1961. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal (1st award USMC).
Marvin also attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. He graduated with a business degree in May 1960.
Marvin was married to Mavis Dockter and lived in the Jamestown area for most of his life. He held various job positions. His last position being that of a machinist for Western Gear. He retired from that position at the same location with the company now being called Lucas Western.
Marvin enjoyed playing both fast and slow pitch softball. He also bowled on various leagues. He was a hunter and enjoyed attending various hunting banquets with his buddies.
Marvin is survived by his five children; Pamela Wason, Mary (John) Newman, Tina (Jeff) Reimers, Jon (Jane) Lorig, Heather (Chad) Elhard; grandchildren Austin, Leah, Shawn, Tiffany, Jade, Alicia, Rishi, Rayann, Jasmine, Jakob, Ian, Max and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Marcel Lorig, mother Gertrude Lorig and his sister Joanne Job.

Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, January 28, 2019 at Good Shepherd Chapel, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND with Deacon Ken Votava officiating. Interment will take place in the spring of 2019 at Calvary Cemetery.
