Martha Jenkin

Martha M. Jenkin, 88, Bismarck, North Dakota, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at St. Vincent Care Center in Bismarck.

Martha Magdalena Wittmer was born December 7, 1918, south of Medina, ND, to Jacob and Emilia (Reister) Wittmer and moved to a farm north of Medina at a young age. She was baptized in 1919 at the Medina Reformed Church and was confirmed there in 1935. She attended Peterson Township schools in Stutsman County and later worked in Fargo until her marriage to Vernon Jenkin of Pettibone on November 12, 1943. They lived and farmed south of Pettibone until retiring in 1968. Prior to her move to Bismarck in 2001, she had lived at Eldridge and in Jamestown.

Martha loved the outdoors and all God's natural wonders. She loved all aspects of farming and also enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, reading, cooking, baking, craft work, and playing cards with family and friends. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and her sister, Emma. All who knew her well realized she always gave more than she expected in life.

Grateful to have shared her life are her daughters, Sharon (Jim) Fischer, Alamogordo, NM, Sandra Jenkin, Bismarck and Alice (Owen) Subart, Bismarck; six grandchildren, Heather (Mike) Goodwin, Grand Forks AFB, ND, Betheny (Ben) Maldonado, Alamogordo, NM, Jerry (Jennifer) Herman, Fountain, CO, Shane (Desiree) Herman, Bismarck, Ryan Subart, Bismarck and Lonna (Troy) Woodworth, Bismarck; 15 great-grandchildren, Dresden, Sennett, Ben, Brie, Audra, Amelia, Carter, Brianna, Morgan, Makyia, Ava Grace, Kenadee, Bailey, Dillan and Courteney, and her sister and best friend, Emma Gent of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers and three sisters.

Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 30, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel in Jamestown with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Friday, June 29, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, North Dakota
