Marlys Sjostrom

Marlys H. Sjostrom, 69, Jamestown, North Dakota passed away on Sunday, January 4th 2015 at Ave Maria Village Nursing Home in Jamestown, ND. Marlys Helga Franz was born in Jamestown on February 19th 1945 to Marvin and Helga Franz (Rutgerson). She spent the first 8 years of her life in Buchanan, North Dakota attending school there for 2 years. The family then moved to Jamestown where she attended school, graduating from High School in 1963. She married William L. Hayden on June 30th 1963. They had two children, Scott Lee Hayden and Carmen Allene Hayden. Later Marlys attended Beauty College in Jamestown and became a licensed beautician. She went on to marry Harley Sjostrom, and lived on their farm in Valley City, ND. until his death in 1997. In 1998 she moved into her parents home to be a full time caretaker for them until May of 2006 when they both went into the Nursing Home. She was a life-long member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She had a great passion for jewelry and started making and designing her own. Everybody who knew her also knew her loyal puppy dog, Pumpkin. She took her where ever they allowed dogs. Her loyal dear friend, Mary Beth Olombel, was such a God send the past four years and was always there to help Marlys. Marlys is survived by her son, Scott (Susan) Hayden, Billings, MT; and daughter, Carmen Hayden, Alcester, SD; Four Grandchildren, Jeffrey Hayden, Randy Hayden, Billings, MT; Lacey (Joshua) Hamilton, and Brandon Erickson; Four Great Grandchildren and another due in June; her sister Jannet (Barry) Hendrickson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and grandparents.

Memorial Service: 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown with Pastor Bryce Tahran, officiating.
