Marlys Boughton

Marlys A. Boughton, age 96, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025 at SMP Health – Ave Maria.

Marlys A. Boughton was born November 29, 1928 to John and Walburgae (Sarbaum) Trzpuc in Marian, ND. She was the 4th of 5 siblings, brothers Harold, Jim and Frank and younger sister Pat. Marlys taught in a country school for a few years before marrying her husband Harold. They were married October 12, 1948 in Marian, ND. Marlys was President of the Montpelier Old Kids Senior Citizens Club for 20 years, member of the Montpelier Town Council, various Election Boards, American Legion Auxiliary member since 1964, member of the VFW Woman’s Auxiliary, member of the Basilica of St. James.

Marlys is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Harold, son Robert, brothers/sister-in-laws; Harold (Angela), Jim (Mary), Frank (Mercedith).

Marlys is survived by two sons, Kelan (Nancy) Boughton, Sabin, MN, Warren (Kathleen) Boughton, Valley City, ND; daughter-in-law, Cathy Boughton, Lisbon, ND; grandchildren, JoDee, Tony, Kyle and Kayla; 12 great grandchildren; sister Pat and brother-in-law Williams Wieland.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing our mom, grandmother and great-grandmother lives on in the lives she touched. She will forever be missed and lovingly remembered.

Visitation will be one hour before the service. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at St. James Basilica with Very Reverend Chad Wilhelm, presiding. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
