Marlene Shirley Gee passed away October 27th, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born May 6th, 1935, to Canton and Ercilla (Lorig) Peterson of Jamestown. She spent her childhood growing up in Jamestown. She married Robert Tompkins (year?). Together, they moved to the Eldridge area where they farmed and raised their four children Susan, DeeAnn, Laurie, and Randy.
Marlene had many jobs throughout her years including Warehouse Foods, Parkway, Miller's Fairway, Dakota Growers Pasta Company, and her most recent employment was Rock of Ages, and as an In-Home care giver.
In later years, while working at Dakota Growers Pasta Company, she met Wayne Gee and they were married in December 2003. Together they lived in Jamestown, enjoying out of state traveling to see family, local trips to casinos and participating in family gatherings. The most enjoyment was spending the evenings at each other’s side within the comforts of their home.
Marlene found joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She loved watching them bounce and roll around the yard on a tractor inner tube. There was never a shortage of candy or baked goodies on her counters when anyone would visit. She loved cooking family meals.
Marlene was known to spare no expense on her weekly hair appointments, her green lawn, and any flower that caught her eye. She collected and read cookbooks as if they were her favorite mystery novel, searching for good recipes to try. Her TV would always be on a station playing crime shows and/or Antique Road Show.
She had the gift to gab and always had a smart remark like her son. She liked playing Bingo every Saturday and playing pull-tabs. Like her son they blamed the “Tompkins Luck” when they did not win. She was extremely sweet, caring, but had little spice just to keep you on your toes.
Marlene absolutely loved dogs, she adopted every single dog Randy brought home. Over the years, there were several- Lady, Duke, Lucky, and Millie. She loved every grand pup as if they were her own. You can guarantee they were all well fed, recognized every sound the refrigerator made or the ruffling of a wrapper, and the slightest hint of food being prepared.
Marlene is survived by her daughters Susan (Daniel), Falk, DeeAnn (Frank), Schumacher, and Laurie (Blaine) Pahl all of Jamestown, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 great- great grandchildren, and friend of the family, Tina Otto.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, her son Randy, and grandson Milo Baumbach.
