Mark Kartes

Mark Steven Kartes, 61, of Dickey, ND passed away February 9, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Mark was born on July 18, 1952 in Jamestown, ND to Harriet Joyce Kartes and the late Charles Anthony Kartes. He graduated from Dickey High School in 1970 and attended North Dakota State University. On June 24, 1972 he married Corine Carpenter in Dickey and was a loving husband for 42 years. Mark owned & operated Kartes Kattle with his late father (Charles), brother (Thomas Kartes) and later his son (Steven Kartes). He enjoyed golfing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was an active member of the agricultural community and was a board member of Adrian Equity Elevator, Russell Township, and FSA. He was a member of the Farm Bureau committee where he served as president for several years. Mark demonstrated his faith by serving as Assumption Church trustee and also served as a cemetery committee member.

Mark is survived by his wife, Corine, and four children, Stacie Kartes (Erik Hansen) of Denmark, Mandy Kartes of Fargo, Steven Kartes (Chrissy) of Dickey and Laine Kartes of Oak Park, IL, and his mother, Harriet Kartes of Jamestown. He is also survived by siblings John, Virginia Kleven, Elizabeth Dietrich, and Thomas and his grandchildren Sophie and Amalie Hansen and Seri Corine and Sawyer Mark (Steven and Chrissy) and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Steven and his father, Charles.

A vigil will be held at 7 PM, Monday, February 17 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, February 18, at Dickey Assumption Church in Dickey, ND. Father Bitz will be officiating. Burial will occur in the spring in Dickey Assumption Catholic Cemetery.
