Marjorie Lavonne Vagneur

January 16, 1919 — January 2, 2013

Marjorie Lavonne Qual Vagneur passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in Roseadele in Jamestown. She was born on January 16, 1919 in Lisbon, ND to Otis and Cora Qual. Marge grew up on a farm in the Lisbon area. She received her teaching certificate from Valley City State and taught in the Big Bend country schools. Marge married James Vagneur on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1943. She and Doc were married for 59 years. David was born in Langdon, ND. They lived in ND, CO, and MI. While in Colorado, Marge started teaching kindergarten in their home. They moved back to ND where Coralyn and Jim were born.

Marge started Trinity Kindergarten in 1958 and taught many children there for the next 25+ years. There were two sessions daily and Marge picked up and drove home many students daily for many years. She thoroughly loved teaching and interacting with her students. Marge went back to Valley City to get her bachelor's degree. She then taught at Cleveland grade school and basic skills at Washington, Lincoln, and Roosevelt grade schools.

Marge was an active member of Trinity Lutheran, Sons of Norway, Retired Teachers, AAUW, PEO, and Dance Club. There are many memories of her and dad dancing the night away. She played bridge with several groups, made lots of raspberry jam and chokecherry jelly, and preserved fruits and vegetables.

There were many that stayed/lived with them during the years, from veterinarian students to nephew Lance Nelson.

Marge is survived by her sons, David (Scott), Minneapolis, MN and Jim (Connie), Jamestown; daughter, Coralyn (Doug) Armstrong, WA; granddaughter, Michelle Renier, Fargo; grandsons, Ryan (Megan) and Jon Armstrong of WA; sister, Betty Nelson, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Laverne Qual, Jamestown, Elaine Qual, Lisbon, and Lorraine Qual, Enderlin.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents; and eight siblings.
