Marie Swartz

     Marie Esther Anna (Hartman) Swartz, age 89, of Edgeley, ND died May 8, 2025 at SMP Health Ave Marie in Jamestown ND with her family by her side. Marie was born January 2, 1936 in Edgeley ND. She attended Edgeley Public school, graduating in 1954. She married Vernon Swartz, October 12, 1954 and they made their home in Edgeley.

     Marie enjoyed gardening, where she canned or froze what the family didn’t eat. She was best known for her dill pickles. She enjoyed crocheting and was making afghans for everyone. She spent countless hours completing jigsaw puzzles, reading paperback books and going fishing with her family. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran church and worked there for many years as a janitor, also served as a cub scout den mother while her sons were growing up. She found great comfort in the companionship of her dog, Ruby,

     Marie is survived by her 5 children, Verna (Scott) Geisler, Buckeye AZ, Yvonne (Jack) McGregor, Jamestown ND, Zale (Rob) Ketterling, Vern Jr (RoxAne), and Darwin (Sheila) all of Edgeley. One brother, Norman, Edgeley and one sister Beverly Feldman, Troy IL, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Johnnie and Esther, 1 Brother 2 sisters and 1 granddaughter.

     Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Home, Edgeley, ND. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 14 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND with Pastor Paul Preus officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, ND.
