Margaret Wentland

Margaret Wentland, 98, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.

Margaret Magdalena Burkhardt was born April 12, 1912 southwest of Medina, ND, the daughter of Fred and Eva (Brost) Burkhardt. She attended country school, worked on the family farm and helped her folks raise nine of the thirteen children. On November 10, 1935 Margaret married Fred Charles Wentland in Jamestown. They lived in Jamestown until 1956, then moved to a small farm northwest of town, where they raised cattle, hogs and chickens.

Margaret enjoyed tending her flowers and working in her vegetable garden. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Margaret is survived by three sons, Harold (Dolores) Wentland, Glasgow, MT, Carroll (Helen) Wentland and Patrick (Linda) Wentland, both of Jamestown; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchild; two sisters, Elsie Schwecke, Castle Rock, CO and Martha McComber, Washington; and one brother, Arnold Burkhardt, Yakoma, WA.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five brothers, Willie, Elmer, Fred, Gus and Harold; four sisters, Hilda, Ann, LuElla and Anna in infancy; and one grandson, Eric.
