Manuel Lackman

Manuel Lackman, 83, of Edgeley, ND, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure.

Emanuel Carl Lackman was born on April 17, 1930, in Mitchell, NE, the son of Alex and Marie (Derr) Lackman. He attended country school and grew up on the family farm. The family moved to Minnesota where Manuel attended high school in Morris, MN. He was the Minnesota State Wrestling Champion his senior year. Upon graduation, Manuel was drafted into the US Army on May 19, 1953 and served in Alaska. He was honorably discharged on May 17, 1955 as a corporal. Manual and Mary Jerger were married on April 26, 1958, in Bridgeport, NE. They made their home on a farm near Scottsbluff, NE raising cattle and small grains. In 1964, they moved to a farm west of Edgeley to farm with his father and brother, retiring in 1996. He and Mary enjoyed traveling during retirement. He was a member of the American Legion and Eagles.

Manuel enjoyed reading, watching football, giving Honda rides and playing catch with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lackman, Edgeley; two daughters, Linda (David) Chadduck, Jamestown and Susan Lackman, Bismarck, ND; four grandchildren, Jennifer Chadduck; Joshua (Trisha) Chadduck and their boys, Paxton and Tucker; Nolan (Katrin) Klose and their children, Danielle, Riley and Regan; and Ashley Klose; two brothers, Paul (Barb) Lackman, Jamestown and Ruben (Lois) Lackman, Mandan, ND; four sisters, Rebecca (Richard) Olson, LaMoure, ND, Laurine (Gene) Olson, Litchville, ND, Leah Jaeger, Murfreesboro, TN, Bette (Bob) McDonald, Cloquet, MN; sister-in-law, Pat Lackman, Edgeley; and many niecs and nephews.

Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Marie Lackman; brother, Bruce Lackman; and brother-in-law, Clarence Jaeger.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Jackson Building, Frontage Road (south of Prairie Rose Inn), Edgeley, ND.

Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2014 and 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND.

Interment: Mt. Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, ND
