Magdalene K Bartkowski

Magdalene K. Bartkowski, 99, of Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, May 4th, 2014 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown.

Magdalene was born on April 28, 1915, on the family farm near Goldwin, ND, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Liegman) Koushkouski. She attended country schools and graduated from Pingree High School in 1936. Magdalene married Tony Bartkowski on April 9, 1940, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Wimbledon, ND. They lived near Battle Lake, MN, and then moved to a farm near Courtenay, ND. Magdalene loved to raise a garden and loved her flowers. Magdalene was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. When St. Mary’s closed she became a member of St. James Basilica in Jamestown. Her children knew her as a loving mother and homemaker. Magdalene’s grandchildren will miss her motherly advice, great cooking, wonderful baked goods and quick wit and humor. She so enjoyed having friends and relatives stop in to visit as she always had the coffee pot ready.

Magdalene is survived by her children, Ronald (Glenda Hoffer) Bartkowski, Miles City, MT, Janice (Rodney) Roaldson, Courtenay, ND, and Karen (Arlo) Maag, Jamestown; six grandchildren, Joan Bartkowski, Mark Bartkowski, Michelle (Aaron) Albrecht, Jim (Tara) Roaldson, Jon (Janine) Roaldson, and Rhonda Roaldson; ten great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; sister, Ann Stocking, Moorhead, MN; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; daughter, Beverly; daughter-in-law, Helen; granddaughter, Jacqueline Stroh; one great-great granddaughter; six brothers, Frank, Peter, Anton, Lewis, Paul, and Leo; and five sisters, Louise Hamkens, Agnes Wojick, Margaret Borgen, Dorothy Rance, and Laura Johnson.

Eucharist of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.

Vigil: 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.

Interment: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Courtenay, North Dakota.
