Mabel Werner Owen

Mabel Werner Owen, 97, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Mabel was born February 23, 1911 in LaMoure County, North Dakota, the daughter of Herbert and Rebecca (Jeske) Werner. In 1914 the family moved to a farm near Jamestown and Mabel attended rural schools in Bloom township. She worked on the family farm. She moved to San Francisco, California in the 1950's where she worked for many years. Mabel married Ben Owen in California and they continued to live in California. Ben died in California and in December 1981 Mabel returned to North Dakota to live with her brother, Edwin, in Harvey, ND. She began residing at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in the spring of 1988.

Mabel was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown.

Mabel is survived by her brother, Roy (Mary) Werner, Jamestown; sister-in-law, Lorraine Werner, Bradenton, FL; several cousins; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and a special cousin, Evelyn Redman, Lamberton, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers, Rev. Edwin Werner and one in infancy.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 25, 2008 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Gary Ball-Kilbourne and Rev. David Werner officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
