Lula Baker

Lula Baker, 99, Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, February 24, 2005 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.

Lula Campbell was born February 5, 1906 in Northfield, Minnesota the daughter of Isaac (Ike) and Alice Campbell. At an early age, she came with her parents to Buchanan, ND where her parents worked on a farm. She attended a rural school, graduated from 8th grade, then attended high school in Buchanan and graduated in 1924. She then taught rural schools in Stutsman County for 9 years, attending summer school each summer at Jamestown College or Valley City State College. On January 28, 1933 Lula married Howard Baker in Jamestown. They lived on the family farm at Edmunds until their retirement in 1990. Howard died on January 19, 1996 in Jamestown.

Lula was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, a member of the Edmunds Ladies Aid and the Pingree Ladies Aid. She was interested in various sports her family took part in.

Lula is survived by two sons, Clair (Marcella) Baker, Jamestown and Richard (Joani) Baker, Minneapolis, MN, one daughter, Mavis Goodroad, Fargo, ND, seven grandchildren; Tara, Elizabeth & David Baker, Minneapolis, Steven (Gaylene) Goodroad, Indianapolis, IN, Raymond (Lorrie) Goodroad, Rhindlander, WI, Deanne Crilly, Sioux City, IA and Brian Goodroad, Minneapolis, four great-grandchildren, Michael and Megan Crilly, Sioux City, IA and James and Dana Goodroad, Indianpolis, IN and one sister, Donna (Arnold) Ginsbach, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, Juanita, Beulah and Luella and four brothers, Everett, Emmett, Darrell & Don.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, February 28, 2005 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown with Pastors Gary Ball-Kilbourne and Terri Akkerman officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, North Dakota.
