Ludwig Guthmiller

Ludwig "Louie" Guthmiller, 84, Pettibone, ND, died Monday, January 28, 2013, surrounded by his family, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck, ND.

Ludwig was born September 25, 1928 in Petersville Township, North Dakota, the son of Ludwig and Barbara (Moser) Guthmiller. He attended school in Petersville Township. Ludwig entered the US Army on November 14, 1951 in Fargo, ND and served in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on August 20, 1953 and was awarded two Bronze Service Stars and a United Nations Service Medal. He returned to North Dakota and on December 6, 1953 married Dorline Schneider at Petersville Lutheran Church. He worked at farming and construction and later became a well-driller.

Ludwig was an active member of the Lions, Legion and the VFW. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the outdoors.

While living at Missouri Slope he was surrounded by a group of caring angels and a special friend, Shawn Jacobson.

Ludwig is survived by his wife, Dorline, Pettibone; two daughters, Cindy (Wesley) Almer, Tuttle, ND and Kathy (Pat) Kramer, McHenry, ND; two sons, Allen (Diana Fettig) Guthmiller, Bismarck and Darrell (Bernette Gruebele) Guthmiller, Pettibone; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, six brothers; one great-grandchild; one son-in-law; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law.
