Louverne Radke, 91, Wimbledon, North Dakota, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Palliative Care Unit, MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota.
Louverne Hankel was born September 14, 1916 in Jamestown, the daughter of Lee and Lydia (Mahlke) Hankel. She graduated form Wimbledon High School in 1934 and attended Valley City State Teachers College. Louverne went on to teach in rural schools for several years. On September 10, 1939 she married Luverne Radke in Wimbledon. They lived in Valley City, ND, Thief River Falls, MN and Carrington, ND before settling on the Hankel family farm, near Wimbledon, in 1953. They dairy farmed until their retirement in 1998 when they moved into Wimbledon. He died February 5, 2001.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wimbledon.
Louverne is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Keith & Lisa Radke, of Fargo and one sister, Jeannette (Robert) Loy, Sun City, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Murray; and two brothers.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, June 13, 2008 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wimbledon, ND with Rev. Robert Hill officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown and one hour before the service at the church.
Burial: Prairie View Cemetery, Wimbledon, North Dakota.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Stroke Association, Midwest Affiliate, 460 N. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63141.
