Louise “Lou” M. Wanzek, 88, Jamestown, ND passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025 at SMP Health-Ave Maria, Jamestown, ND.

Louise was born on December 7, 1936 at Trinity Hospital in Jamestown, ND. She was the seventh child out of 16 born to Paul and Veronica (Prodzinski) Wanzek of Windsor, ND. She went to country school in Moonlake Township and then to St. John’s Academy in Jamestown. Louise graduated in May 1954.

She started working at Northwestern Bell in Jamestown. In 1960, she transferred to Minneapolis as an operator. She retired after 40 years of service. Lou received the Presidents Award for outstanding service.

Lou bought a townhouse in NE Minneapolis “Polish Country”. She enjoyed bus trips with friends. She spent the month of March in Florida for several years and enjoyed coming back to ND to visit family. Lou was a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. She moved to Jamestown in 2020 to the Heritage Center and then to Ave Maria.

She will be sadly missed by siblings Cecelia Newton, Jamestown, ND, Gene (Beth) Wanzek, Windsor, ND, Genny (Keith) Berg, Fargo, ND, Judy Baenen, Leed, SD, Tony Wanzek, Jamestown, ND, Cathy (Gary) Carlson, Jamestown, ND and Connie Charipar, Minneapolis, MN and several nieces and nephews.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Leonard (Delores) Wanzek, Courtenay, ND, Theresa (Bob) Solinger, Nortonville, ND, Joan (Gene) Cysewski, Wimbledon, ND, Harvey Newton, Jamestown, ND, Kenny (Adeline) Wanzek, Jamestown, ND, Raphael Wanzek, Windsor, ND, Delores (Donald) Norris, Olympia, WA, Joyce (Gerald) Gutensohn, David Wanzek, Jamestown, ND, Ken Baenen, Leed, SD, Sandy Wanzek, Jamestown, Karl Charipar, Minneapolis, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:00 AM, Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at St. Mathias Catholic Church, Windsor, ND with Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm, presiding. Interment will be in St. Pauline’s Cemetery, Windsor, ND.
