Louis Bower

April 17, 1917 — April 27, 2010

Louis John Bower, 93, Jamestown, formerly of Kensal, North Dakota, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Heritage Centre, Jamestown.

Louis \""Lou\"" was born April 17, 1917 in rural Kensal, the son of Goodhart and Anna (Faehnrick) Bower. In 1962, Louis married Mae Ross. Louis farmed near Kensal all his life, retiring in 1979. They spent their winters in Arizona for 30 years. While in Arizona, Lou bowled with two leagues for 28 years and pitched horseshoes everyday. When spring arrived, he made sure he had the Twins baseball schedule right nexrt to the TV remote.

Lou enjoyed hunting with trips to Canada for bear, moose and caribou. They made annual fishing trips to Jan Lake for 18 years. In Arizona Lou took up woodcrafting; creating bowls, clocks and beautiful lamps. Lou and Mae enjoyed their family, traveling and gardening and their 48 years together. We're grateful for the time we shared and the memories will help us bear the loss. The one common comment about Lou is, \""He was a good man.\"" He was good to his wife and good to all those around him.

Louis is survived by his wife, Mae, Jamestown; two daughters, Shirley (Ross) Pearson, San Diego, CA and Billiette (Ross) Lund, Fargo, ND; two sons, Larry Ross, Jamestown and Donald Ross, Menlo Park, CA; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister.
