Lorraine Marie Schwartz

Lorraine Schwartz, 79, Jamestown, ND died on Friday, April 6, 2007 at her home while under hospice care.


Lorraine Marie Prodzinski was born March 27, 1928 on the family farm at Fried, ND the daughter of Edward and Louise (Degen) Prodzinski. She grew up in the Fried and Kensal area. She received her education in Kensal rural schools and attended high school at Kensal for 2 years before she graduated from Jamestown High School in 1946 after her parents moved back to the homestead of her grandparents at Buchanan, ND. Lorraine worked for Dr. Starr until her marriage to Adrian Schwartz on November 10, 1948. They farmed in the Fried area where she stayed home and raised her 4 children until they were all in school, then she went to work at the Stutsman County Courthouse where she worked in the Register of Deeds office, County Treasurers office and in the County Auditors office for 30 years until her retirement in 1994. Adrian died December 2, 1991. In 1995, Lorraine moved into Jamestown.

Survivors include her 4 children, Terrence, Jamestown, Kathleen (Mark) Anderson, Mapleton, ND, David ( Donna), Jamestown and James, Nashville, TN; 6 grandchildren, Beth Schwartz, Michael (Elizabeth) Schwartz, Jill (Jamie) Paurus, Brian Schwartz, Amy Schwartz and Kayla Anderson; 4 step grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Phyllis Leysring, Bismarck, ND; 3 brothers, Donald (Patsy) Prodzinski, Salem, OR, Melvin (Beverly) Prodzinski, Milford, UT and Harold (Jan) Prodzinski, Seattle, WA and many nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 1 brother, Richard.
Lorraine was a member of The Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, ND. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fried, ND where she was baptized and married and was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society. Lorraine enjoyed remodeling houses and flower gardening.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at All Souls Prairie Chapel, formerly Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.
Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Prayer Service: 7:30 p.m. Monday at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fried, ND.
