Lillian M. Schlecht, 82, of Medina, ND died Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND with family at her side. Lillian Mayer was born on September 24, 1932, to Robert and Lydia (Moser) Mayer in Rural Medina, Newberry Township. She attended rural school south of Medina for 8 years and graduated from Medina High School. She went on to complete 1 year of college at Valley City State College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught farm grade school in Germania Township and was a teacher substitute. She married Reuben Schlecht on December 28, 1950 in Medina and she lived on the family farm for 62 years. In addition to being a housewife and homemaker she worked for NoDak Mutual Insurance Company and Smith Jewelry in Jamestown. She served on the County Health Board, County Special Education Board, and County Committee for the Reorganization of School Districts. She was president of Stutsman County Homemakers Council, Womens Council President of Stutsman County Farm Bureau, Stutsman County chairperson for Jerry's Kids, Muscular Dystrophy. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Medina where she was active as church treasurer, Sunday School teacher for 40 years, choir director, president of the United Methodist Women, and chairperson for United Methodist Conference Global Concern. She was program chairperson of the Sunshine Homemakers Club of Medina and member of the Stutsman County Executive Board of Homemakers as County Chair. She was chairperson for International Foreign Youth Exchange. She was bookkeeper and Vice President of Schlecht Dairy and Seed, Inc., the family dairy and grain farm operation. She was actively involved with Germans from Russia and the Schlecht Family Singers. She enjoyed sewing, baking and decorating cakes, making noodles, singing, entertaining. She was a proud grandmother and great grandmother and a loving and devoted wife. Lillian is survived by three sons, Ron (Paulette) Schlecht, West Fargo, ND, Collette (Nora) Schlecht, Medina, and Loren (Karen) Schlecht, Medina; six grandchildren, Nicole (Darren) Olafson, Naomi (Aaron) Lucht, Erica (Nathan) Oster, Troy (Nancy) Schlecht, Tonia (Scott Perry) Schlecht, and Allyce Schlecht; eight great grandchildren, Heath Olafson, Cameron and Jonah Lucht, Nolan Oster, Faith Neva, Chase Wolfe, Christian Schlecht, and Camden Perry; sisters Deloris Obenauer (Mandan, ND), Marilina (Richard) Spitzer (Bloomington, MN), Rose Marie (Charles) Simmons (Monument, CO). She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; 2 sisters, Lorine (Clarence) Schlecht and Darlene Moos; 3 brothers, Clarence Mayer and twin brothers Elroy and Leroy Mayer.

Funeral service: 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Medina, ND with Rev. Hazel Behrens, officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 7 at Eddy Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, ND.
