Levi Schopp

January 19, 1919 — December 6, 2015

Levi Schopp, 96, formerly of Jamestown and Lehr, ND, died Sunday night, December 6, 2015 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton, ND.

Levi Schopp was born January 19, 1919 on the family farm south of Lehr, ND the son of Jacob and Christina (Weisenburger) Schopp, Sr. He was raised near Lehr and attended the rural school. After his schooling, he worked on the family farm with his parents. On August 16, 1940, he married Sarah Lachenmeier at the Lehr Baptist Church and they settled on a farm southeast of Lehr. They lived on several other farms in the Lehr area until they bought a farm east of Lehr in 1956. He farmed there until retiring in 1979 when he moved to Jamestown. Sarah died September 11, 1962.

Survivors include 4 daughters, Shirlain (Don) Kramlich, Aberdeen, SD, Sherry (Darrell) Diede, Wahpeton, ND, Sheila Matthiesen, Jamestown, ND and Sheryl (Kim) Carow, Jamestown, ND; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son, Sherald; 5 sisters, Martha, Alma, Anna, Ida and Helen; and 7 brothers, Emil, Walter, Art, Rueben, Elmer, Adam, and Jacob.

Levi enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and both flower and vegetable gardening.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND with Rev. Randy Jaspers officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel.

Interment: Lehr City Cemetery, Lehr, ND.
