Leona Meisch

June 29, 1922 — May 4, 2014

Leona Meisch, 91, Jamestown, North Dakota peacefully moved to heaven on May 4, 2014. Leona was born on a farm near Streeter on June 29, 1922. When Leona was a toddler, her mother went to town with a wagon and a team of horses. Leona attempted to follow, and soon was lost. A search party was formed. She was eventually found asleep in a wheat field by the family dog, Towser. She graduated from Streeter High School and attended college in Ellendale. She married Theodore Meisch in 1941, and was active at First Baptist Church in Streeter. She worked at the Streeter Café during WWII. She later worked at the Streeter Post Office, and after moving to Jamestown in 1966, worked at First Bank. Leona and Ted loved to travel. Ted passed away in 1981. After her retirement from the bank, she worked various other jobs, including the John Wesley White campaign, Marantha Church Builders, and lastly Blue Cross & Blue Shield. Leona was an active member of Temple Baptist Church. Her hospitality was well know, especially among college students. She had an addition built to her house as a dining room to entertain guests. She was a member of the Professional Secretary's Association, Toastmasters, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Leona is survived by her son, Robert (Linda) Meisch, Crystal, MN; daughter, Peggy (Jack Anderson) Meisch, North Branch, MN; one sister, Jeanne (Eugene) Solt, N. Ft. Meyers, FL; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Christine Brenneise, younger brother Elmer and husband, Theodore.
