Lenora Louise Priebe, 88, Edgeley, ND and recently Cando, ND died February 18 at the Towner County Living Center from complications of Alzheimer’s disease and a past brain bleed.
Lenora was born October 16, 1930. The daughter of Jacob & Rosina (Kahl) Fiechtner (Walth). She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Monango, ND. She attended and graduated from Monango High School in 1948. Also in 1948 Lenora was a player on the Monango girls’ basketball team which won the ND State Class B women’s tournament that year. A gold basketball necklace was given to each player. She wore hers proudly.
Lenora married Harry Priebe on May 29, 1949, and they were married for 55 years before Harry’s death in 2005.
She was employed by the Edgeley Livestock Sales Company for 20 years. In 1967 she was employed by the Security National Bank which was later called Heartland State Bank as a teller for almost 33 years. She retired and was honored at the bank for her 33 years in 2000. She loved serving the many customers at the bank with her ever present smile. She often gave her daughters and grandchildren the advice, “Always wear a smile!”.
Lenora was a charter member of the Edge-Ette Homemakers Club where she met many of her life-long friends.
Church has always been a priority in Lenora’s life. She loved singing in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was active in LWML.
In Lenora’s younger years she was on many bowling teams.
She moved to Cando in October of 2009 to be closer to her daughter Lynette and son-in-law Dick, & her grandchildren & later great-grandchildren. She resided at the Towner County Living Center where she was remembered for her smile, pleasant nature, and beautiful voice.
Lenora was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, parents, stepfather, George Walth, her sister, Esther, Brother Victor, sister-in-law Mildred & brother-in-law Warren Henke.
Lenora is survived by her sister, Rose Marie Henke of Bismarck; daughter Carolyn Motteram & grandson Anthony of Melbourne, Australia; daughter Lynette (Dick) Lybeck of Cando; 3 grandchildren Matthew Lybeck Jamestown, Alyssa (Michael) Tofsrud Minnewauken, Mark Lybeck (fiancé Nyiel Stangeland) Bismarck, 2 great grandchildren Avlyn & Easton Tofsrud.
Visitation: 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Williams Funeral Home, Edgeley.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, February 22, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, with Pastor Alan Eppen officiating.
Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, North Dakota.
Arrangements are in the care of Williams Funeral Home, Edgeley.
